Lighthouses of Portugal

Seeking to bring the local community closer to military infrastructures – in a way to stimulate the economy, traditions and local customs through tourism and sociocultural projects which aim to preserve military heritage, while the ATMPT is a vehicle for the proximity with the sea and Portugal’s history, aiming to provide unique experiences and perceptions for national and international tourists through the “discovery” of lighthouses in different points of the country.

Today, there are 77 existing lighthouses in Portugal split up between the continent and the islands. Their large structures in locations, often, of difficult access but always privileged in terms of panoramic views, assert themselves in the landscape and are references for more than their function in maritime traffic control.

Under development the Lighthouses of Portugal project is currently being developed with associate partners of the ATMPT, with the goal of reaching a group of innovative, intelligent and sustainable products that contribute to the boosting of national territories and for the tourism qualification of Portugal as a destination.
